Hi Everyone.
I think that hammerhead sharks are pretty interesting looking creatures. Look at its T-shaped head! Like all sharks, the hammerhead is a predator and plays an important part in the ocean ecosystem and food chain.  They actually help the fish population stay strong and healthy by eating the fish that are sick or injured. That's why I decided to include the hammerhead shark in my song FASCINATING SHARKS.  It is one of my ocean animal songs for kids on the CD IF I WERE A FISH by Birdsong and the Eco-Wonders. My friend Ryan David does a great job rapping this song.

Click here to listen to the first couple of verses of FASCINATING SHARKS to learn some interesting things about this interesting-looking  fish. Do you want to write your own verse about sharks?  Please do! And send it to us. too. We'd love to read it. You can also watch our animal song videos about dolphins, gray whales, seals, sea lions and walruses.

If you'd like to learn more about hammerhead sharks (including the answers to the questions on the coloring page), check out: National Geographic Kids.

Enjoy!                                                                                                              -Birdsong

Sorry if this is off topic but I’m thinking of buying this book. Curious if anyone’s has checked out the new book “Hell’s Aquarium” by Steve Alten? I know he’s been a best selling author before, but wanted to see if anyone had read this book first? It’s about the ancient prehistoric shark Megalodon, which makes the current Great White Shark look like a gold fish. Check out the trailer below, pretty awesome: http://www.variancepublishing.com/meg-hells-aquarium-contest.html

Dear Friends. Check out this video of a kayaker's amazing encounter with a blue whale, the largest animal on Earth. It gives you a close-up look at just how big and magnificent these creatures are. I felt excited and tingly inside when I watched this. You can learn just how big a blue whale by listening to my song So Big! Blue Whale! on our CD IF I WERE A FISH and other Ocean Songs for Kids by Birdsong and the Eco-Wonders®. I wrote this song as a tribute to the world's largest animal. See if you can if you can find facts about a blue whale's lungs, heart and tongue in the song! (The lyrics to the song are below.)

Dear Friends. This is a fun National Geographic kids' video about dolphins. Here you will see a pod of dolphins using their sounds to locate large schools of anchovies. After locating the fish, they then use dolphin teamwork to catch the anchovies for dinner. Echolation and cooperation are the names of the game in this educational kids video. You can watch more natiuonal geographic videos at National Geographic Kids Online. You can also watch my animal song video about dolphins and echolocation, called Clickety Clack, in a previous blog post. In the video you will find the dolphin photos by NOAA and the lyrics of the song so that you can sing along. Clickety-Clack is the first song on my CD IF I WERE A FISH and other Ocean Songs for Kids by Birdsong and the Eco-Wonders. I love seeing dolphins off the coast of California where I live.
